When you hear the phrase "better together," what does it mean to you? For us, it means that we do not walk through this life alone. Friends journey with us through the good times and bad—we laugh together, cry together, and most importantly, PRAY.
When we choose to follow Jesus, we discover our true identity and purpose as children of an all-powerful God. We realize that we are part of His family, unified in our love for our Redeemer and called to make a difference in our corner of the world. We have the beautiful privilege of being part of something that is far greater than any one of us individually! Our Heavenly Father created us uniquely with gifts that will encourage, lift up, and support the whole Body of Christ. We believe that God created us on purpose and with a plan. He uses community to unlock our destinies step-by-step as we listen and learn from every person we meet.
When we say that we are Better Together this is what it means to us:
1. We don’t walk through life alone.
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. - Psalm 139:7-10 (ESV)
2. We remember that we are the Body of Christ!
Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything? But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where He wants it.
This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
3. We encourage and build up one another.
As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. - Proverbs 27:17 (NLT)
4. We know that God's plans for us are GOOD!
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
5. We keep our eyes on Jesus and keep moving FORWARD!
The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to His name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me.
6. We are letting God write our life stories.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends You, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
7. We desire to become more like Him every day.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. - Romans 12:2 (NLT)
